Hi there! I'm Kristine Murello, a local mom of two, living here in Long Valley. My passion is to share my love of music through piano playing, as well as experiencing the joy that music brings to the young children in and around the Long Valley, NJ area.
I'm an early childhood/elementary aged music teacher...having an extensive amount of experience working with young children and teaching music to children from infants, toddlers, preschoolers, to school-aged children and beyond...
Finding the right piano teacher for your young child can be a challenge. Many teachers focus on higher-level playing...and performing. I consider my style a non-competitive ...yet offer an exciting, learning environment..where children giggle...celebrate...and perform - because it's FUN! Early stages of learning should be encouraging...and positive...and I try my best to keep our lessons that way throughout the year.
Originally from Massachusetts, I am a cum-laude graduate of The Hartt School of Music, Dance and Theatre, West Hartford, CT. It was there where I received a degree in Music Education along with comprehensive studies in piano pedagogy and performance.
In addition, I have received numerous certificates in general music education, Drum Facilitator Training, and teacher certification through the Orff-Schulwerk Method and Kindermusik International.
I hold both New Jersey and Massachusetts State Teaching Certificates in music education and have taught in the public and private schools for 15+ years prior to teaching private lessons. My experience has allowed me to teach in public schools on Nantucket, MA - Framingham, MA - and Basking Ridge, NJ. I am proud to say that I am the 2004 recipient of the "Governor's Teacher of the Year Award" in Music Education from the Bernards Township School System.
When I am not teaching in the studio, I enjoy playing and walking the studio mascot & family dog Louie, taking pilates classes and spending time with my two children, Nick & Olivia, & husband, Matt.
If you are interested in piano lessons, please know that I currently have a "full studio" of piano students here at my home studio after school...but please feel free to contact me at your earliest convenience if you would be like to be on my waitlist.
